Abhishek Sharma is fast proving himself as one of the most destructive ball‑strikers in T20Is, a pillar of strength for Team India at the top of the order. On July 1, in the rain‑abandoned first T20I against England at Chester‑le‑Street, the left‑hander carved his name into the record books.
He became only the fifth Indian to smash 100 sixes in T20 internationals, joining an elite club with Rohit Sharma (205), Suryakumar Yadav (179), Hardik Pandya (126) and Virat Kohli (124).

What made Abhishek’s milestone truly special was the speed at which he got there. He reached 100 sixes in just 785 balls faced, making him the quickest in history among players from ICC full‑member nations. He broke the record of West Indies’ Evin Lewis, who had taken 789 deliveries. Behind them are some of the most feared hitters in the game: Finn Allen (871 balls), Tim David (931), Colin Munro (963) and Suryakumar Yadav (1007).
Abhishek’s landmark six came in trademark fashion, a short ball from Saqib Mahmood in the fourth over, dispatched over deep backward square leg. It was a shot that summed up his fearless approach.

Abhishek Sharma Loses No. 1 Spot in ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings
Even as Abhishek scaled new heights with the bat, there was a twist in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. After a year of undisputed reign at the top, he slipped to No. 2 with 869 rating points. His teammate Ishan Kishan surged past him to claim the No. 1 spot, reaching a career‑best 876.
India’s dominance in the format remains clear. Alongside Ishan and Abhishek, Tilak Varma (No. 6) and Suryakumar Yadav (No. 8) also feature in the top ten, underlining the depth of India’s batting firepower.
