India vs England Women: A historic Lord’s Test
The Lord’s Cricket Ground witnessed history as India and England women locked horns in a rare Test match. England captain Nat Sciver‑Brunt won the toss and opted to field, a decision vindicated by her seamers, who made batting a stern challenge.
Despite the pressure, India found resistance through Mandhana’s 83, Harmanpreet’s 58, and Deepti Sharma’s 57. Together, they ensured India reached a respectable total. England’s bowlers shared the spoils: Lauren Filer and Issy Wong picked up two wickets each, Lauren Bell chipped in with one, debutant Mady Villiers impressed with 2/79, while Sophie Ecclestone stood out with 3/68.
By stumps, England were 21/1, with Maia Bouchier (17) and Heather Knight (1) steady at the crease after Tammy Beaumont was trapped lbw by Kranti Gaud for 2.
